Day 31 (May 16, 2008)
Continued from Part 1: http://morezmore.com/myblog/2008/04/15/behemoth-1/

This morning I picked up Behemoth again and here is the status report. The cat’s hands still need to be furred – one more session, hopefully tomorrow morning

Day 31 (May 16, 2008)
During these several days I spent all my morning “sculpting” time on the Morezmore packing room – inventory, organizing and cleaning. It is almost done and I am very pleased with it. That was much needed. Here is what it looks like now:

I spent this morning putting together the scene and setting it in epoxy.
Behemoth will be a birthday present to my sister. As I can just hand-deliver this sculpt to the final destination, for simplicity I am going just attach it all together. The cat will still be removable and the tray will be removable too, but all the tiny pieces will be glued to the tray.
Collected all pieces that will be part of the scene, then put it all together for one more dress rehersal, marked the board by scratching – to figure out where what will go

The furniture has little pieces of wire sticking out at the bottom of the feet so that the feet can be anchored in the base board. Drilled the holes, filled them with Magic Smooth epoxy:

Then just kept attaching everything with Magic Sculpt epoxy. In addition to what I already described, a couple of new little details – I love details (at the risk of overdoing it, but more is more at Morezmore).
Made two candlesticks with real candles out of metal beads, metal buttons and birthday cake candles – you can see one of them on the back of the tray, and another one on the floor by the champaigne bucket.

Remembered that I used to have a bunch of tiny wooden carved chess pieces somewhere – searched for them and found the knight! Perfect! Just like in the book.
“… Besides these, there was an enormous black cat sitting on a stool in front of the chessboard and holding a knight in its right paw.
Hella stood up and bowed to Margarita. The cat jumped down from its stool and did likewise, but making a flourish he dropped the knight and had to crawl under the bed after it…”
“The Master and Margarita” by Mikhail Bulgakov
Here is the book online – enjoy! http://lib.ru/BULGAKOW/master_engl.txt

I decorated the Morezmore key with faceted iridescent glass beads and made a really cute Morezmore logo keychain:

Overall, here is what I have now – all pieces are epoxied together, the only thing that is removable is the tray, but all the pieces on the tray are attached to the tray.

Thank you for watching, ALMOST DONE!

Day 32 (May 17, 2008)
Good morning! Behemoth is done! I finished flocking on his paws. Also there was a couple of changes, namely Behemoth is wearing a white satin bow tie now (I have just finished reading the part about the Springtime Ball of the Full Moon)…
”Never, messire! ‘ howled the cat, crawling out with the knight in its paw.
‘Allow me to introduce to you . . .’ Woland began, then interrupted himself.’ No, really, he looks too ridiculous! Just look what he’s done to himself while he was under the bed!’
The cat, covered in dust and standing on its hind legs, bowed to Margarita. Round its neck he was now wearing a made-up white bow tie on an elastic band… He had also gilded its whiskers.
‘What have you done? ‘ exclaimed Woland. ‘Why have you gilded your whiskers? And what on earth do you want with a white tie when you haven’t
even got any trousers? ‘
‘Trousers don’t suit cats, messire,’ replied the cat with great dignity. ‘Why don’t you tell me to wear boots? Cats always wear boots in fairy tales. But have you ever seen a cat going to a ball without a tie? I don’t want to make myself look ridiculous. One likes to look as smart as one can’.
“The Master and Margarita” by Mikhail Bulgakov

I also made another fancier fork. Anyway, all is done, and here are the pictures of Morezmore® #21 Behemoth!
I hope you like him!

View seller’s items | View Blog He is superb! A marvelous job, and to think you were uncertain about even showing him to the world, not too long ago. I Love him, and I am sure your sister will be thrilled to have him, especially when she can read your struggles with him. She will be proud to have something that you put so much of yourself into to create him for her. She is very lucky. Your organizing job turned out well also. Now if I could only borrow you to help organize my house. I got moved in, but am still unpacking and putting away.
Behemoth never looked so good as he does on your sculpt. Congratulations on completing number 21 – Behemoth! – Pam May-19-08 13:06:23 PDT Delete | Report this comment

I love watching your work in progress and the way you describe what your doing, how your doing it and even your thoughts is fantastic. As someone that is just learning I’ve learned a lot of little tricks from your work. It must be great to be so creative and have the talent to do something with it. Your very blessed, but I think you know that. I look forward to watching more of your works and in learning from you as I do.
Also congratulations on the store, it looks like your doing a great job and I wish you much success!! Just don’t get so involved in the work part and stop creating, I know I’m not the only one that would miss your running dialogue and fabulous sense of humor. Not only are you a gifted artist your a gifted writer!! I thought I would laugh myself right out of my chair at the thought of you clipping your poor kitty’s whiskers lol. I guess everyone in your house has to give for the cause now and then lol. Your a joy to watch!! Huggs, MJM May-26-08 22:21:02 PDT Delete | Report this comment

I will be thinking good thoughts for both the May 31st deadline and the June 9th Surgery. It may not be great for business, but it can be good for creativity, but being on crutches may cause the creative time to get pushed aside for the extra time the store may require, but we are all pulling for you to be able to do both. It would be nice if some of the contributing household members could contribute to helping with the store. Dogs have good tongues for licking envelopes, so Sir Harley could help with that. The Fluffmeister probably feels like he has sacrificed enough, but he could be handy for getting stuff off of high shelves for you, but he will probably prefer being a comfort as you convalesce from the surgery, but that is an important job, as long as neither decide that your cast makes a good bed. I hope all goes well and I’ll keep checking back to see how you are doing. -Pam

It will be all right – I am debating whether I should close the store for some time or keep business as usual. For now I am thinking I will stay open, we shall see how I feel after the surgery. Financial deadline was met with flying colors, by the way! thank you again and talk to you soon! May-30-08 17:16:30 PDT Delete | Report this comment

See, I knew you could do it. Anyone who gets up early just so that they can make beautiful sculptures, then has the dedication and persistence to keep up a running step by step commentary with tips and pictures, and does it all before noon, but I believe you stop sculpting much earlier to tend to a great and sucessful Ebay store, that is also a second full time job, I knew you would have no trouble making you financial deadline, and do so with flying colors. Anyway, back to the anyone who can do all of that, can easily accomplish whatever task they put their their mind, persistence and determination to. I am sure that, if you decide to keep open the store, it will be just as fruitful as ever. — Pam

Good Luck on Monday, Natasha!
I hope all goes well with your surgery and the healing process is quick and uneventful. Hope to see your progress written her or where ever you next pick to write in. Get your foot surgery done with and heal fast. Put your health above your store and you sculpts, because it is now part of my daily activities to check on what you are up to. Thanks for all the time you put in just for us to see what you are doing. Hope all is well healed soon – Pam Jun-06-08 15:03:49 PDT Delete | Report this comment

It will be all right, I am sure. I will make it work We have a new puppy – that’s right, I cannot believe it either. Surprise! Lou (my husband) brought a new puppy who was about to be put to sleep in the shelter – for the only reason of lack of space. That is his only excuse which I can relate to. Yesterday I was really upset about it – the puppy is large 7 month, incredibly active and curious, not house-trained, needs to be walked and can be a hazard to a person on crutches. Just when I thought that it would be impossible to keep the store open on crutches (my usual day is 14 hours with two feet and two carrying hands), a puppy was added to the equasion. I got every promise I could think of out of Lou, and I am still worried. Yesterday was incredibly hectic – pretty much every minute the puppy needs to be actively supervised and prevented from getting into trouble. I wouldn’t think about putting my foot down and sending the dog out, but it just became so much harder on me. Jun-07-08 04:55:23 PDT Delete | Report this comment

A puppy is a lot to deal with, especially one that is that old & not house broken. Do you have a fenced area where the puppy can be let out into it? As for the store get a rolling cart to put things on, tie a rope to it an then you can pull it where you need it with the rope, as long as it is an easy rolling one. Another idea is to get child gates(for the puppy not the store)to keep the puppy in an area so that you can get around safely on the crutches. “When it rains it pours.” I have still not got out of the pouring rain that started two months ago when my back went out while packing for my move to a new place. I knew it would be a difficult move, but I didn’t realize that everything that could go wrong would, I will spare you the details of my two months of hell, that are still going on, it has to stop some time, doesn’t it? — Pam

Have not seen any posts from you, but I hope you are doing okay. I presume you have awakened, but figure you may be either busy trying to hold down the store, while on crutches, with a new puppy, two experienced pets, in pain, and/or on pain medications. Hope you are holding up, feeling better, and that the new puppy has not managed to be too big of a problem. Hope you are feeling more like your self soon. -Pam

View seller’s items | View Blog You got it right, Pam – just trying to keep it all together – my step daughter is helping me – she came for 2 weeks to stay and work. Good for her – she is a student and appreciates some income and great for me – she is my legs and my hands.
Sasha – new german sheppard mix pup is a little nightmare, but we will make a great dog out of her – in due time. The surgery – I don’t remember if I mentioned it – was a repair of a tendon raptured about a year ago. It never healed, was hurting and finally I had it checked out – the tendon was in two pieces like a torn rope. No wonder I felt unstable at times. So the surgery was to sew those two pieces together. The crutches – forget the crutches, they freak me out. I just put my knee on a kitchen chair and travel around with quite a bit of dragging and clunking of the chair on the floor. Actually I am using three kitchen chairs – one chair on each of the 3 floors. And negotiate the stairs on my behind. Because I am using the muscles which I normally don’t use, I feel like I was beaten with a two-by-four, but at least I am semi-mobile. It is rather pathetic as I need to take a kitchen chair into the shower, so I am certainly looking forward to being well again. I am healing well – with the help of the Secret – visualizing my ankle healthy and strong – I can already step on it but still no walking – the doctor said I will not be walking for 5 weeks, but I think I can make him re-evaluate this time! the other animals: Harley the chocolate lab is a angel with Sasha, very patient and sweet. We are grateful because he takes on himself about 90 percent of the incredible energy Sasha puts out – all the jumping and pouncing and biting and drooling and chewing. Fluffy the cat stands his ground, hisses, administers quick disciplinary bites with some licking afterwards and, if necessary, swipes the puppy with a claws-out paw, generally looking like he is not going to take any crap from Sas Jun-16-08 18:10:36 PDT Delete | Report this comment

Hi, Natasha. I just read the piece about Behemoth beginning to end. I love your courageous sculpting. See something you like, make an armature and go for it! lol.
I think we have/had the same problem. I have a torn tendon in my foot, post-tibial. It hurts right under the ankle. I’ve been in a cast for three weeks, get it off tomorrow, then three more weeks in a brace. It still hurts, but I’ve been allowed to walk with the cast. If the brace doesn’t work I think we’re going to have to do something about it. I was just wondering how you are, if you have recovered or had any more inicdents with that tendon. It’s almost Christmastime now, so I thought perhaps you’ve had some time to assess your recovery. Thanks for sharing your sculpts and about yourself. Brings us sculptors into a smaller circle. Thanks. Loretta Dec-10-08 21:25:16 PST Delete | Report this comment
